If you search your business on Google and your website does not appear, the cause is usually one of a handful of fixable problems: the site is not indexed yet, something is blocking Google, the pages are too thin, or competitors simply have stronger pages. Here is how to diagnose it yourself in about 20 minutes, in the order we check it on client sites.

First, check whether Google knows your site exists
Go to Google and type site:yourdomain.pk (replace with your own domain). This shows the pages Google has indexed.
- No results at all: Google has not indexed the site. Start with reasons 1 to 4 below.
- Some pages show, but not when you search your service: the site is indexed but not ranking. Jump to reasons 5 to 9.
The most reliable tool is free: Google Search Console. If you do not have it set up, do that first. It tells you exactly which pages are indexed, which are excluded and why.
Indexing problems: Google cannot see the site
The website is too new
A brand-new domain can take days to weeks to be discovered. Submit your sitemap in Search Console and use URL Inspection to request indexing for your main pages.
Search engines are blocked in settings
WordPress has a setting called Discourage search engines from indexing this site, often left on by developers after building the site. Check it under Settings, Reading. Also check for a noindex tag in the page source.
robots.txt is blocking Google
Open yourdomain.pk/robots.txt. If you see Disallow: / under User-agent: *, the whole site is blocked. This is a one-line fix.
Crawled but not indexed
Search Console may show Crawled - currently not indexed. This usually means Google saw the page but did not think it was worth indexing: too little content, duplicate text or a near-copy of another page.
Ranking problems: indexed, but nobody finds you
No page targets what customers search
If your homepage says Welcome to our company but customers search plumber in DHA Lahore, Google has no page that matches. Each main service and city needs its own clear page.
Thin or copied content
Pages with two lines of text, copied supplier descriptions or text copied from a competitor rarely rank. Explain your service, prices, process, areas served and common questions in your own words.
Slow on mobile data
Most Pakistani users browse on phones over mobile data. Heavy sliders, uncompressed images and cheap overloaded hosting hurt both rankings and enquiries. Test it on PageSpeed Insights.
No authority or trust signals
A new site with no mentions anywhere competes against sites with years of links and reviews. Real business listings, local directories, partner mentions and genuine PR help over time; bulk spam links do not.
No Google Business Profile for local searches
For near me and city searches, the map results usually appear above websites. Without a verified profile, you are missing the most visible spot on the page.
Quick diagnosis checklist
| What you see | Most likely cause | First fix |
|---|---|---|
| site: search shows nothing | Not indexed or blocked | Check robots.txt, noindex and WordPress setting; submit sitemap |
| Business name search shows Facebook but not website | New site or weak signals | Add Search Console, link website from Facebook and Google Business Profile |
| Pages indexed but no service rankings | No matching service pages | Create one detailed page per service and city |
| Rankings dropped suddenly | Technical change, migration or spam links | Compare Search Console data before and after the drop |
| Competitors on maps, you are not | Missing or weak Google Business Profile | Verify and optimise the profile, collect reviews |
How long will it take after fixing?
Technical blocks like robots.txt or noindex can be resolved within days of fixing and requesting a recrawl. Ranking problems take longer: new and improved pages usually need several weeks to a few months to settle, depending on competition.
